In the recent years Pete Rose has admitted to gambling. He also acknowledges that this was a serious problem. “Rose writes in his book that he once got himself in $88,000 in debt with a single bookie at the same time that he was six figures arrears with another. He was so deep in gambling debt that he had to borrow money from lowlifes.” (Layden) Rose finally admitted that he bet on baseball while he managed the Cincinnati Reds. This is considered the biggest sports gambling scandal of all time. Rose is still Major Leagues all time hits leader. Rose was considered one of the greats but has been put under permanent ban from baseball which includes the treasured Hall of Fame honor. Although Rose’s outstanding achievements warrant an induction into the Hall of Fame, as of now he will never be allowed because of his gambling habits.
