Why Is The Chasm Between Islam And Christianity Growing?

hristianity is often not considered something that influences the way all of that culture is run and acts, specifically politically. It is rare, and at times non-existing, that a governing body with most of its people following the practices of Islam does not modify its social, economic, and political practices accordingly. Most countries that identify themselves as Muslim states conform their entire social systems around Islam. As such, those who do identify as Muslims are very assured of their convictions, and will not consider alternatives. This provides for a very firm way of life and volatile conflict, if conflict arises.

Belief Systems
The first and most evident root of conflict between the Christian and Islamic worlds is the difference in belief. The belief systems of each religion are strong and their proponents are so unwilling to compromise that it is difficult to bring about resolution. It is the respective doctrines of both religions that make conditions so easily turn into war, and so difficult to come out of. Christianity is based on the Bible. Christians see Jesus Christ as the only son of God and the only way to heaven. Islam recognizes Jesus Christ, as well as Moses, as prophets of God, but for Muslims, Muhammad as the highest prophet and messenger of God. It is the nature of most religions that followers firmly believe that the structure and doctrines that are dictated by the scriptures are the only truth. As such, conflict seems very likely, almost inevitable. In exploring the belief systems of both religions, one is able to examine the actions, practices, and beliefs that have led to the great divide which exists today between two of the largest religions on Earth.
