Not only did the United States remain silent when this inhumane act occurred, it was an indirect supporter through weapon sales to Iraq. Along with this, let us not forget that Turkey killed thousands of its Kurds using United States weapons. Other nations as well have killed hundreds of thousands of their own people, such as Indonesia and Guatemala. These nations were not threatened with war, and as a matter of fact, they also received weapons from the United States.
The United States going to war with Iraq is morally wrong. Instead of risking a war that may result in weapons of mass destruction, the United States and the United Nations should find a better solution - an answer that abides by the law, demonstrates respect for human rights, and last but not least, breaks the cycle of violence.
