In any country particularly those with a large geographical spread the process of transforming raw material to production and delivery products for consumption is interspaced by both time and distance. Over coming time and distance constraints in moving goods or delivering services in an effective and timely manner is an onerous task and warrants meticulous planning.

Pakistan faced worst wheat crop failure in the year 1977. The Government to address this grave situation, resolved to import 2.5 million tons of wheat and 2 million tons of fertilizer. It was at this juncture that the limitations of Port to handle and logistical constraints for movement of such large volumes surfaced. The goods arrived at the Port but could not be moved. The need of the day was an organization resourceful and capable enough to solve this gigantic crisis through a planned, coordinated and efficiently monitored effort of its own.

It was under these circumstances that National Logistic Cell was formed on 6th August 1978 to take on the massive task of speedy clearance and transportation of essential commodities from Karachi Port to the farthest destinations within the country.

From then onwards NLC has performed its job with great dedication and has helped the government in the transportation field. Not only the government but also the private sectors are also being benefited by this firm. Its network is widespread in Pakistan. Not only Pakistan but to other neighboring countries such as Iran and Afghanistan as well. NLC has also provided services in the case of tension at borders between Pakistan and India.

Well, our case study is about the study of transportation of NLC by trucks and trailers. The analysis of different types of trucks and trailers is our basic study.
