The Metrorail operating budget is then broken down into five sub-categories of which all receive a portion of the operating budget. These categories are: Personnel, Services, Materials, Propulsion, and Other.
Personnel, which makes up the man power of Metrorail, is given $440.4 million dollars to cover salary and benefits. Services, which includes providing actual transportation and transit user programs, receives $35.4 million dollars. Materials, including vehichles as well as other required equipment, accepts $40.3 million dollars of the proposed budget. Propulsion, which accounts for the energy used to move the rail cars, accounts for $35.1 million dollars. The remaining $28.2 million dollars of the budget is designated for other miscellaneous use based upon the need of the Metrorail.
