Here is a brief history about the Staples Center, according to Forbes magazine, In October of 1997, the city of Los Angeles’ Cultural Affairs Commission approved the blueprints for a new, state-of-the art sports and entertainment facility. The intention of the design was to enable it to host more than 230 sports, entertainment and family-oriented events annually. The Bank of America underwrote the project with a $375 million credit for the creation of the Staples Center. The agreement is the largest private financing of a sports arena anywhere in the United States. The venue set a new standard for naming rights in a $100 million deal with office-supplier Boston-based Staples Corporation. In a record of 18 months the best sports venue was up for entertainment in downtown Los Angeles. Some of the corporate partners for the Staples Center are Toyota, McDonalds, Pepsi, Bank of America, Staples, Anheuser Busch, Fox, DirectTV, United Airlines and LA Times. The Staples Center Foundation has established a number of partnerships in the community to assist charities, raise funds and awareness for their organizations.

Here are some simple facts why I think the Staples Center is an outstanding venue. The arena is a 900,000ft² sports and entertainment facility, which exceeds any other sports or entertainment stadiums. $2 million were spent on lighting; along with a $1.5 million on the sound system. The Staples center also includes 1,200 televisions screens, which are positioned in clusters throughout the building and an eight-sided video scoreboard. It seats 20,000 screaming basketball fans and 19,000 for hockey with a large digital screen to greet visitors. Inside the center you will find 160 suites; which leases out for $200,000.00 to $300,000.00 a year.
