Even though movies and soaps are rated, teenager are still able to access them. The responsibility then become the parents, who are responsible in controlling their children from getting misleading information about drugs, alcoholism and lots more. The internet also gives off misleading information. Teenager can access many website that are intended for mature audience. There underground internet websites and discussion boards that describe issues that teens many not have a real grasp on yet. For instance, there are site that discuss “what it feels like to get high”, “how to get high” and other information that can be more harmful than good for teens. These sites open the minds of these children that still have not discovered their place in this society. There are many ways that parents can stop teens from accessing this TV shows and Internet Websites. This can be prevented with the help of a V-chip for TV and Parental Controls for Internet. Many parents do not understand the influence that TV, Internet and music have on our children. Keep in mind there are parents that are aware of these major influences and they are doing something about the problems. Most importantly, these measures are working for them
Reason for Taking Drug
Teens as well as adults us drugs for the same reason. The main reasons why teens use drugs according to CASA (2003) and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is to help them relieve stress, they are bored or the availability of extra money, depression and low-self esteem. Other reasons why teens use drugs is to fit in with their friend, and because they think, it is fun. Many adolescence using drugs use them as an scapegoat from there problems at home.
