fore their release in 1997, the three were well-known drug lords from Colombia who trafficked cocaine for a daily living. Now, Fabio may be looking at prison terms again because he was convicted of smuggling thirty tons of cocaine to the states. In order to pay funds for this trial, the Ochoa family sold some of their horses at their ranch in Colombia (Adams 1).
Once major cocaine dealers were arrested in the United States for cocaine trafficking, transportation routes moved from Colombia to Mexico (“Thirty Years of America’s Drug War”). From Mexico, they are transported across to the United States across the border by road because the United States Air Force will monitor the airplane traffic. Moreover, after almost twenty years of the United States combating the drug trade with Latin America, the war is far from over, it has become a serious problem.
