By using biodiesel and ethanol as clean, homegrown energy sources we could help reduce the nation's dependence on foreign oil, to stimulate the agricultural community and to help the environment have cleaner air. These renewable fuels such as biodiesel and ethanol are clean burning alternative
fuels that are produced from domestic renewable resources such a vegetable
oil and animal fat. Biodiesel is good for both the environment and the
economy. Not only are harmful emissions from tailpipes reduced from
burning less diesel fuel in vehicles using the biodiesel mix, but this fuel
can generate millions in economic benefits for our economy and our farmers. We need to focus on promoting the use of alternative fuel sources
this session in an effort to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, create jobs,
and preserve our natural resources.
We need to use renewable fuels such as biodiesel and ethanol to help

the environment have cleaner air. The predicted benefits include a reduction

in respiratory disease, and a sharp reduction in hydrocarbon emissions.

The odor of biodiesel exhaust is more pleasant than petroleum-based diesel,

and, the fuel reduces carbon dioxide exhaust by up to 80 percent. Biodiesel

is strong because it burns cleaner than petroleum diesel, reducing air

Biodiesel itself is biodegradable and spills would not require environmental

cleanup. We know the environmental and health benefits of moving to

biofuels. Biodiesel reduces toxic air pollution by 67 percent and reduces

carbon dioxide emissions by 80 percent.
