Science comes from the Latin verb scire, which means “to know”. Taking into account this definition, it suggests that for some people science is the ultimate form of knowledge and certainty. Therefore, knowing one thing can lead to many more different aspects of life and knowledge as a whole with the use of inductive scientific experiments. I think this is a very reasonable view especially in the present society. Because science is mostly seen as an inductive form of reasoning it may be argued that it broadens our horizons on thinking. Science is strongly applied in order to ensure development in many areas of technology and it is the supreme force which drives humans toward ultimate perfection. We gather much of our knowledge from a series of tests, which may vary in methods to come to a certain conclusive statement; however some of our knowledge comes to us through our own personal experiences as well as valid arguments, perceptions, assumptions and emotions. Through the use of science we strive to come to common agreements, which ultimately can become universally accepted, strengthening its claims as the supreme form of all knowledge.

Knowledge is present in various different forms, each of which plays a substantial role in allowing society to think critically. Now-a-days we are in need of sustainable development throughout the world and are constantly in need of new ideas. Lateral thinking allows us to accept this challenge and this can only function efficiently with creative and innovative knowledge. In order to develop the environment in a sustainable manner, we need to know what is ethically and physically wrong or right. Through knowledge the idea of critical thinking is brought up, which deals with the handling of multiple perspectives in a given amount of time.
