on the majority of the time. As the boys’ main caretakers the women name them, and attend to their daily needs such as feedings, changing, bathing and much more. They also help with the preparation of the woman coming into the hospital for whichever procedure they are about to carry out. These are two compassionate women who would do anything to keep the orphanage and hospital running smoothly.
Mrs. Grogan is the director of the girl’s division. She names the girls when they are born and then proceeds to take care of them as if she where there mother. Although she herself is not a nurse she is responsible for the girls’ well being and taking care of the their daily needs. Mrs. Grogan does her best to keep to a routine especially at night and in the morning. She is a kind woman with much compassion for all the orphans and has their best interests at heart.
The character focus group for this paper is the orphans in there first two years of life. Children of this age range are developing fast. Every few weeks children seem to be learning something new. (Hoffnung et al, 2000) After a few months go by they are sitting, smiling and babbling. (Hoffnung et al, 2000) As more time passes by the child is learning the spoken language, showing signs of make believe play and first steps. (Hoffnung et al, 2000) These children are starting to recognize faces of their caregivers and crying when they see strangers. Much development is going on mentally and physically every day.
