PTSD as we know is not a new discovery along with the symptoms that have always been there but not always recognized though modern history. As it is stated in the definition of PTSD, war is not the only factor that causes this disorder. In women, it might be triggered by being raped, in children, watching a loved one die or being in a terrible accident. The disorder in service members has been documented over the past hundred years, and it is said to have been caused by a culmination of the afore mentioned factors or completely new ones. In one case it has been documented that a soldier who was not a front line soldier experienced it when, he was informed that his mother and father had been involved in a terrible car crash and neither of them survived.
