These are the corner stones of liberal democracy, which entails freedom and free trade. The end of history means that ideological evolution stopped when the Western way of life spread to non-Western countries. Some regimes in the world would not accept this platform, but this does not matter because the non-changed countries would eventually be changed through the material world. Whether they are willing to of not. This happened when China took up some Western economic attributes. China is not liberal democracy; presently only 20% of China’s economy can be attributed to liberal ideals. China’s leadership is still a self-appointed communist party, which still does not want democratization of their political scheme. Chinese students who learned the Western way of life demanded the government to change. The political transition was very tricky for China, they successfully managed to gain economically liberal views and keep their political views the same.
These developments in China have a large impact on the fall of Marxism-Leninism, but the fall of the Soviet Union was the true “nail in the coffin”. When the free market and the cooperative movement were introduced the Soviet Union saw their first step towards liberal democracy. For the short run the Soviet Union’s ideals are still Marxist, but the transformation seems inevitable. In the four years that Gorbachev has been in power a revolutionary assault on their most fundamental institutions has been happening. The new principles in act are not liberal, but the foundations are liberal. This is most evident in the economic sphere, where economists have been supporting free market trade.
