and what Gaddis calls innovations and “grand
strategy” are anything but grand. Let us take a look
at point three because its practically the theme of
the
entire article, that basically state terrorism is
caused by authoritarian rule; which makes the people
act out
their negative feelings stemming from having no
representation to attack another country due to the
religious fanaticism they take on because of again,
the lack of representation and authoritarian rule. If
one
truly thinks about it, why would the terrorist attack
the US if it is the authoritarian leaders of their own
countries that are not representing them? If they were
going to attack anyone, why wouldn’t it be the same
authoritarian rulers that have put them in such a
position? Russia was under authoritarian rule, and yet
the
people did not attack America or some other part of
the world because of it. Instead, they killed the Czar
and his family along with the nobility and countless
others within the country. The same goes for China, as
well as the US itself. Was it not the US that fought
against the British and won its independence from them
due to a lack of representation and authoritarian
rule? In each case, the people rose against those that
did
them great injustice. Yet, for some reason the Middle
East gets back at the authoritarian regimes by
attacking
America. How does that hurt the authoritarian regimes?

One could argue that by attacking the US they, the
terrorist fed up with being underrepresented, knew the
response would be an attack on their very own
authoritarian regimes, which would lead to its
ultimate
destruction and free the people from their horrible
