Decent families did not want any part in this new type of dance and if a man or woman wanted to learn, their only choice would be to dance with another person of the same sex. From here on in, the Tango moved to the poor immigrants from all over Europe living in boarding house common areas or Buenos Aires.

These inhabitants of the boarding houses were decent people and it took many years for Tango to penetrate into their society. At first during weddings, birthdays and anniversaries when the Tango was played, it was disregarded and unappreciated. As the more “purified version” of the Tango was created it become more and more accepted at the very same celebrations. Tango music and dance became less vulgar and more civilized. It was this “purified version” of the Tango that also attracted the middle and high class of people.
