Abortion is the deliberate killing of the weakest and most defenseless action among us. Yet, over the past years this practice has been recognized as a fundamental human right by the highest court. Many people are supporters of abortion and their reasons vary, however I believe that in any situation abortion is wrong.
Abortion is a hard decision for many good reasons. Surveys of women aborting their babies indicate that 1% of them are doing so because of rape or incest. It is sadly true that many women have been oppresses into pregnancy, forced out of pregnancy, beaten, pushed around, and generally subjected into a vast number of situations, but does that entitle any women to do the same thing to the most helpless and innocent among us?
The definition of abortion is: the surgical or other intervention (such as drugs) intended to destroy and/or remove from the woman’s body a fertilized living ovum at any stage in its devolved zygote, embryo, or fetus. The methods used during the first three months of development are: suction aspiration, dilation and curettage (D and C), and the abortion pill. The Catholic Church stands firm on their opinions of abortion. They believe that it’s an “unspeakable crime” and its murder. The Catholic Church bases its position on the fact that the second the baby is conceived it’s created by God and has a right to live. However, when the action is absolutely needed, abortion can be used. These times include when the baby can cause severe damage to the mother, possibly killing her.
