On the other hand, the majority of gays and lesbians believe that homosexuality is genetically predetermined and has something to do with an unknown environmental factor in early childhood. They believe that homosexuality is something that one is, and it is an unchosen fixed “orientation.” Once this sexuality is established, the homosexual feelings are unchangeable. No matter what kind of treatment one might undergo, if the person does not want to change, they wont (Chosen 2).
Many homosexuals say they are “born gay.” Homosexuals believe this because they know they did not change themselves to be against the “norm.” In a homosexual’s eyes, there could be no other reason for this homosexual desire.
