The Atkins Diet was designed to have different levels of the diet. The first two weeks of the diet are designed to be a trial period, to see if the dieter’s body can handle the extreme change. It will take a long time for the body to get used to not taking in carbohydrates, which are normally things that the body needs. By not eating any carbs, the food that the dieter consumes is greatly impacted. Those trying the Atkins Diet are able to eat foods such as meats, poultry, oils, eggs, seafood, cheese, bacon and sausage. At first look, these foods do not appear like they would be healthy choices if they were the only foods consumed by someone for an extended period of time. Also, there are many foods someone who is on the Atkins Diet cannot eat. This list includes milk, fruits, grains, cereals, potatoes, corn, and carrots. This is where the confusion begins. From an early age we are told that we should eat our fruits and vegetables so that we could grow up to be strong. In your later years you learn that fruits and vegetables are actually good for you because they give you the necessary vitamins and nutrients in order to stay fit and healthy. In the dieter’s case, you must make the effort to go out and spend a huge amount of money on vitamins and other supplements in order to get everything that your body needs to function.
