In the United States, every person has at one point or another tried to lose weight. Many have tried the hundreds of different kinds of weight loss programs or increased the amount of daily exercise that usually do. Two common weight loss programs are the, Weight Watchers Diet and the Atkins Diet. Both are planned to lose weight at a rapid pace, rather than just simply exercising.
Atkins Diet is a system that enables our body to lose weight in a natural way by inducing a change in metabolism. Our body is capable of burning both fat and carbohydrates to provide the energy required to function properly. Carbohydrate, in the form of glucose, is the first fuel used to provide energy to our body. During this time, dieters are permitted to eat no more than 20 grams of carbohydrates per day. This translates into a diet consisting of nearly unlimited meats, poultry, eggs, cheeses and a few other simple products. During these two weeks, participants are not allowed to have any milk, fruits, grains, cereals, breads, vegetables such as potatoes, peas, corn and carrots. After the first two weeks, dieters can begin adding about 5 more grams of carbohydrates to their diet weekly.
Weight Watchers on the other hand is a little bit different. Many people like the program because it not only encourages a sensible diet consisting of healthy, ordinary foods, but also stresses the importance of exercise and a positive attitude. It does not consist of losing weight at a rapid pace, but helps you lose weight gradually. You are still allowed to eat the food you love. All you need to do is find the right mix of carbs and protein to keep you satisfied.
