The Weight Watchers plan works by having all foods on a points value which is based on fat, calories, and fiber. “Stay within your points range and lose weight.” The amount of points you get each day is based on your individual weight. If your pregnant or nursing you get extra points. I feel weight watchers offers a nutritionally sound way to lose weight because it teaches you to eat correctly. It also makes you more aware of what food has in it, to make a decision whether it’s healthy or not. It makes sure you have daily items in your diet like six glasses of water, fruit and vegetables, milk and milk products and a multivitamin supplement. Our nutrition book states to have a balanced diet you should consume the five major food groups every day: *milk, yougurt, cheese *meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts *vegetables *fruit *bread, cereal, rice, and pasta. Weight Watchers incorporates all of these foods to have a balanced diet.
Weight Watchers incorporates exercise into their plan. They feel that exercise not only helps you lose weight but it improves your moods and help your health. When you exercise you can earn extra activity points, which you can save and lose more weight or trade them in for extra food. On weightwatchers.com they provide you with specific exercises to target specific places on your body. The behavior modification strategies that are employed by this plan are they provide you with a daily journal, points calculator, meal plans, recipes, 12 introductory newsletters, and there website which also has all of these tools but also gives you recipes, exercise workouts, success stories, a weight watchers, chat room, etc. They also hold meetings one a week close to where you live.
