Lavender
Lavender comes from the Roman word “lavare” which means, “to wash”. It was the favored fragrance of Rome and was added to bathwater for a fresh and clean aroma. The Romans then brought it to Europe.
There are many therapeutic effects of lavender. It is best known for balancing the nervous and emotional systems of the body. But it also acts as an antiseptic, a painkiller, and an antibacterial, which helps with burns, cuts, insect bites and throat infections. It’s used as an antidepressant and eases stress, tension, and headaches. Digestive spasms, nausea, and indigestion can be alleviated or even prevented by lavender. This oil helps with acne by cleansing the skin, and is great as a conditioner for your hair.
Lavender oil can be taken into the body in many ways. One way is to put a few drops of the oil into a vaporize and inhale the steam. Another way is to rub the oil into the temples and the base of the neck. Both of these ways are great to relieve headaches. Other ways include, a few drops of oil in a warm bath or footbath, massage, and hot wrap. The warm bath before bed will help with sleeplessness.
