General Nutrition Project

Doing this project has shown me many things about my nutrition habits.

Things like vitamin c, folate, iron, and calcium had never even crossed my mind. I have looked at the carbohydrates, proteins and fats in the foods I have eaten before, but never really understood what they did and what they are.
The recommended intake for carbohydrates in men is about 275 to 300 grams a day. In my three day food record I met that intake one day, at 338 grams. The other two days were pathetic to what I should have taken, at 77 and 53 grams. So I need to eat more pasta, more fiber, and more bread to meet the standards of the average male.
With protein, I ate a little more than the standard, which is about 75 grams a day. I have been trying to consume more protein because I have been trying to gain muscle. I have started to work out more and I need a little extra protein, but with the fat I am trying to cut out as much as I can. The recommended intake for fat is roughly 65 grams a day. With my three day food record as my facts I really need to make more of an effort. The first day I went over with 81 grams, the second day I did a lot better with 60.5 grams, and the last day was horrible at 92 grams. I am eating way to much cheese and fast food to try to keep a steady diet. Days like the third day just kill me in trying to keep a balanced diet. I need to be more consistent in my eating patterns. I am at the stage of my life where I am always in a eat and run situation, with work, school, and golf. So I get very little time to plan out what I want and what I should eat.
The other four items in my nutrition diet are pretty close to what I should be eating. The only thing I could probably improve on it my calcium intake. I am drinking a lot of milk and eating a lot of cheese. If I could cut down on those just a little I will be where I want to be.
