Living in the twenty first century has it’s advantages, but along with the fast lifestyle comes disadvantages. One disadvantage is having an unhealthy diet. Fast food restaurants, long hours at work, and not staying physically fit are three key causes of falling into an unhealthy diet. Fast food is around the corner of every block in town. It is easy to obtain, fast, and tastes rather good. I think fast food tastes good once in a while, but not very often does it beat my grandmother’s home cooked meals. Fast food is not healthy at all. They are prepared in greasy vats of oil and fried too fast to pay attention if they are done or not. If some person was to eat this everyday, it would practically be suicide by heart attack. Many people eat at fast food restaurants during their noon break since they cannot afford to spend a lot of time slaving over a hot stove. The kind of job that someone has, can supply a significant amount of effect deciding whether the employee is healthy or not. Sitting in a chair all day has effect on the muscles. No exercise is being done and calories are not being burned off if movement is not involved. If a person does manual labor, then he might be physically fit, but would most likely eat fast food for lunch. The manual labor worker has an advantage over some business worker since he is working hard and using his muscles to burn off the fat and get the calories burned off from the fast food. But the business worker isn’t doing any physical labor to burn off those extra calories. It is obvious that exercise is needed to stay healthy. Nobody gets fit and thin by just sitting around and waiting for some miracle to happen. Exercise plans can be made by an athletic advisor. People that work today don’t really have the time and effort to go out and work to get the exercise. After work, I’m usually tired and want to watch a little TV because I worked hard.
