Arthur Szyk drew this before Hitler decided to invade the Soviet Union, which eventually led to the downfall of the Nazi Regime. One of the only cartoons I looked at that portrayed the Axis Powers as to be undefeatable. This cartoon has a possible negative affect showing that there’s no chance of the Axis Powers being stopped and could have had an affect of the Allies self esteem.
There are countless amounts of these cartoons out there and if most of them can bring a smile to Americans and for a second make them feel good and confident about the war, then the media did the right thing. It seems the American public understood that and realized that it needed to be done and the support was there, for our troops. So what happened we entered the war and cleaned house but not without a few setbacks. A big part of it would defiantly have to do with knowing that the American public supported the stop to the Axis powers. Something that America hasn’t seen, in a real long time.


With the defeat of the Axis Powers came much rejoicing, but that was short lived with ironically one of the seven deadly sins, Greed. In 1947 talk about Korea’s new found freedom led to a division in the country forming North and South Korea. South having their first election 1948 and later on being conquered by the communist of North Korea in 1950. Following this was society’s first look at a new type of war not to protect, but to prevent. The whole idea of stopping a form of government with force just brought uproar amongst soldiers during the time of the Korean War. This war is one of the first incidents where we hear the statements of America having no right to butt in another country’s business.
