We never need to worry about world peace. World peace is something that will never happen. War is something that the world is going to have to deal with because there has been very few years over the history of the world that have been war free. Too many countries have too much pride in their selves. War also occurs, because of greed. Lastly, religion has been used as a basis for war by fanatics and heretics from the dawn of recorded history.
War occurs between people that are to proud to recognize that others are standing around in poverty and economic depression. Just look at what happened on September 11, 2001. The U.S has one of the most powerful militaries in the world and still got attacked. Hijackers ran two jets into the World Trade Center towers. Eventually the two towers came crashing to the ground. These attacks came from terrorists in poor countries that have been shunned by the United States. The United States was ignorant of what these nations wanted and needed. This shows that the most technologically advanced nation can show so much pride that others lust for the destruction of what the weaker countries desire. Pride caused these attacks on the United States.
“The love of money is the root of all evil.” Walden’s famous quote can not be ignored when discussing war. It conjures up visions of warlords battling over plots of land so that they can grow, prosper and get richer. Nowadays, battlegrounds are fought by entrepreneurs who only want to get wealthier. Sometimes an entire country can be like an entrepreneur. Many believe that the real purpose for the war in Iraq was to gain the valuable economic resource called “black gold” otherwise known as oil. Iraq produces most of the world’s oil supply, so the United States would grow vastly richer if it had those oil wells. A country or person wants to be the richest and most powerful entity around.
