Who is America’s Sweetheart? Well, someone who started out as a student, turned to modeling, then launched her first movie roll and took it from there (Biography for Julia Roberts,1990-2002). She has taken every opportunity to be different, and has gone down many paths only to come to the one that made her who she is today. She is a talented actress, hard worker, great speaker, and a dedicated person; she is Julia Roberts.
Julia was born in Atlanta, Georgia on October 28th. She lived with her mother, Betty, and her father, Walter, and her brother, Eric. Her mother, Betty, was a church secretary and side actress. Her father, Walter, sold vacuum cleaners and also acted in his spare time. When Julia was five, her parents divorced. Her mother remarried, while her father died of cancer when she was nine(Biography for Julia Roberts, 1990-2002).
At first, Julia had the dream to be a Veterinarian. That was soon changed to Journalism during college. When journalism was no longer interesting, she started acting classes and signed with a modeling agency named Click. The same as her brother, Julia now had dreams of becoming an actress. Scott convinced his producer of “Blood Red” to cast his sister, and she then made her film debut (Julia Roberts, 1990-2002).
This was the start to a long, beautiful career for Roberts. In 1989, when she stared in the movie “Steel Magnolias”, she became a star. Julia received her first award, The Golden Globe (Profiles: Julia Roberts, 2001-2002). Soon after, she appeared in one movie after another. These were, “Pretty Woman”, where she played a hooker turned spoiled, Erin Brockovich, as a white-trash mom turned lawyer, “Step mom”, as a stepmother battling the real mother, and “Runaway Bride”, where she played a small town princess who couldn’t make up her mind.
