The Matrix is a science-fiction film that included a variety of different themes such as: paranoia, conspiracy and the loss of privacy and the decreased value of humans over technology. In the near future, a computer hacker named Neo (Keanu Reeves) discovers that all life on Earth may be nothing more than an elaborate facade created by a malicious cyber-intelligence, while their life essence is "farmed" to fuel the Matrix's campaign of domination in the "real" world. Neo is pursued constantly by "Agents" (computers who take on human form and creep into the Matrix), is considered "The One" who will lead the humans to overthrow the machines and reclaim the Earth. He joins Rebel warriors Morpheus and Trinity in their struggle to overthrow the Matrix.
In The Matrix, the machines have created the ultimate conspiracy theory ,where reality is nothing but a collectively dreamt conspiracy placed in contemporary urban society. In order to get a perfect society, the AI constructed a virtual reality; a perfect replica of life in the city in 1999, put the humans to sleep and plugged them in. In this world it is actually the late 21st century. The entire human race is overtaken by the new technology. The machines create humans through an automated reproductive and incubation process. It is a dystopia and conspiracy, as no one within the matrix is even aware of it because their minds are busy living a simulated life. Since the human race believe in this false world, they are providing the machine world with cellular energy. There are millions and millions of capsules, providing power to the machines.
Throughout the movie, there have been several changes to the Matrix software. At first, the machines confined the humans in a virtual utopia which their bodies were physically located in the energy capsules, but their minds were living a cyber-utopia.
