Talk Shows: The Real WWF

In the world of entertainment, TV talk shows have undoubtedly overwhelmed every inch of space on daytime television. Many of us have seen and heard the often recycled topics found on veteran shows such as Ricki Lake, Maury, and Jerry Springer, and anyone who watches talk shows on a regular basis knows that not only do these talk shows provide us with pointless and inappropriate materials, but also, for the most part, provide us with tasteless entertainment. I, for one, dislike television talk shows, and feel that the inappropriate materials viewed on these talk shows promote violence and sex, and are created for the sole purpose of increasing ratings.
There are abundant amounts of television talk shows in production, as wells as those that are already composed, that are built solely on excitement and rarely resolve the complicated issues that are addressed. Talk shows have gone from discussing simple topics-such as current events, celebrity gossip, and success stories-and have plunged into exposing the guest’s private dilemmas in front of millions of viewers. As in many of today’s television talk shows, various talk shows’s views have changed to a one-hour-reality-based soap opera, rather than what is was generally intended for, to benefit the viewers and guests. Appearing on a talk show is supposed to give chances to those who couldn’t say what they felt before, or provide a positive and constructive vision for both the guests and viewers. Instead, talk shows are now viewed as the source of high entertainment rating. People are being told to over exaggerate their story to make it more lively and entertaining for viewers everywhere.
Many viewers of daytime talk television are young, and sadly these children are exposed to the distortion of the reality portrayed from these talk shows. Shows, such as Jenny Jones, Ricki Lake, and Jerry Springer, constantly have guests who speak about topics such a...
