James Bond is one of the most renowned fictional movie characters today. His versatile nature makes him very likeable and lets anyone who sees James Bond want to be like him. Out of all his enjoyable attributes, his gadgets are easily the greatest of his many sides. James Bond’s gadgets involve a wide array of ingenious inventions made by agent Q ranging from highly expensive sports cars to a pen that purifies a gallon of sewage water; and although some of Bond’s gadgets seem improbable, gadgets similar to James Bond’s have been used to wage war on terrorism.
Agent Q is the man held responsible for every gadget made for James Bond. The character agent Q was played by Desmond Llewelyn for 17 of the 19 Bond films spanning an incredible 36 years. He did not appear in Dr. No or Live and Let Die, but when it was made clear Desmond had limited time left alive, he was given an assistant by the name of deputy R soon to be the current agent Q. Surprisingly Desmond Llewelyn died in a car accident in the 19th of December 1999 and the character deputy R played by John Cleese replaced Desmond as agent Q. Throughout the entire James Bond collection to this date, agent Q has seemed to have certain brusqueness or even distaste for Bond and his cockiness. Agent Q’s witty comical insults are what made him a loveable character because he was the man behind the gadgets (007 Info, 1).
All of the movies with agent Q and James Bond are filled with gadgets and it seems the most recent movies had the most intelligent of the gadgets in the series. In the movie The World is Not Enough, several different gadgets were used by Bond including the infamous BMW 28 Convertible, which retails at 85,000 pounds. The features of this dream car that Bond drives include multi tasking, head up display, standard defense system, surface to air missile system, and it can be operated by remote control from Bond’s key ring.
