In the late 1980‘s a little known T.V. corporation wanted to make a dent in T.V. history, along with “All in the Family” and “The Dick Van Dyke Show.” The name of the Corporation was Fox and they were presented with an idea for a pilot by two directors whos names are Gerry Cohen and Amanda Bearse. They had an idea to create a show that was not like any other sitcom on the air at that time. When the two directors brought their idea to Sony studios they realized that they had some pretty controversial material in this new show. However they continued to film the show. When the show aired in 1987 it achieve low ratings for the few seasons. This still did not change the fact that the show was controversial. It struck a nerve in a women named Terry Rakolta. Rakolta wrote “...the show is out of line for public television and should be taken off the air.” What Mrs. Rakolta did not realize, is she created an interest in a show that was soon to be off of the air. After that people started to watch it more they realized the how funny the show is. The more the critics and newspapers complained, the more people watched. At this point the show started to increase in ratings and it also helped the dying Fox corporation. A classic T.V. show had successfully been started.
When Cohen and Bearse were green lighted with the project they had to create a cast. When the auditions were done they had cast the following actors in there show. Ed O’Neill as Al Bundy Katey Sagal as Peggy Bundy, Christina Applegate as Kelly Bundy, David Fastino as Bud Bundy, Amanda Bearse as Marcy Darcy, and Ted McGinley as Jefferson Darcy. As the show started to get bigger more characters were introduced.
The show was filmed at the Sony Studios and featured what was called “a typical suburbanite house.” It had a couch placed in front of the T.V., like every good American house. The show has many other settings in it as well. A...
