Debt

1 Pages 342 Words

The American Dream has become a debt nightmare. We all want to own our own home, drive a good car, and create a wonderful lifestyle for our family. But, in order to do this, we have to take out mortgages, car loans and create credit card debt.

Financial Independence
In an open survey over 70% of people in America said they thought they were on track to become financially independent. But, research says over 95%1 of Americans will never actually make that goal.

So, while you work hard for every dollar you make, at the current rate, only 5% of people in the U.S. will make it when all is said and done.

America is the most indebted nation in the world:

· Consumer debt is $7.2 trillion and growing

· 62% of Americans say money is their biggest problem

· 51% of all Americans have no retirement savings

· The average credit card debt in America is $xxxxxx

· The average retirement savings for Americans 55 years and older is $xxxxx

Think about your own financial situation.

· If you had to stop working today, could you maintain your current lifestyle for two years?

· How about one year? Six months?

The truth is, for most of us, we couldn’t make it three months without our incomes.

Did you know that at age 65 you need enough to fund 20 years of retirement?

· at 55 you should have at least enough savings to fund 15 years of retirement

· at 45 you should have at least enough savings to fund 10 years of retirement

· at 35 you should have at least enough savings to fund 5 years of retirement
