It is quite easy to say that inventions have been created in the pursuit of convenience. Computers are the epitome of convenience. They are nearly perfect in all the tasks they were programmed to do. If artificial intelligence were to imitate the mind, it must also be capable of making just as many mistakes as humans do which is highly inconvenient. A computer that stores information simply stores it since you prompted it to do so, same with a computer calculating mathematical formulas and task management. Although computers can do these tasks more reliably and efficiently than humans, it has no other reason for doing so than you commanding a computer to. If it were a human, the case may be different.
