Plot (Beginning, Middle, and End): Amber and Katrina try to get Eric Moore (one of the most popular guys in school) to go with Amber to Cori’s party. On their way to see Eric, they get stopped by Heartless (Mr. Hartman). He told April that her shirt was not appropriate for school and he sent her to the office to receive a sweater from the school secretary. The sweater she receives is a sickly shade of purple with big barrel-shaped wooden buttons down the front. The sweater was enormous. Amber’s Grandma would have thought it was right in style but no one else at Central would think so except for a few teachers. While Amber is in this fashionably wrong sweater, Amber learns about the sweater’s past. Her classmates tell her about the time they wore the sweater. After learning some of the sweater’s past, Eric walks up to Amber and asks her to Cori’s party on Friday night. Friday evening came, and April was so excited about her date with Eric. During her preparation for her date, Max (Amber’s brother) annoys her about all the time she is taking in the bathroom. He also insults her hair. As soon as Amber goes downstairs, her father asks her who the boy is. Amber describes Eric faintly. Her father still isn’t satisfied. He reminds her that there are many crazies running around and tells her to take care of herself. The doorbell finally rang. Eric was at the door and he greets Amber by telling her that it is hard to find her house. He asks Amber if she’s ready. Amber says yes but then realizes she has no shoes on. She...
