“The Features of Dogs”

The article that I read was called creature features. The Article taught me interesting facts about different breeds of dogs. It also showed a picture of the inside of dogs’ body. The body parts had different titles. Some of the topics they discussed were eyes. Dogs’ eyes are located in the front of the head. They are held there by sockets. A dog uses the eyes in the front of their head to watch there pray. Like human a dog can move there eyes fast and see in all the directions. Although a dog has less taste buds then a human they can still taste the many things that humans taste. They determine the taste of the food basically by texture. All mammals see the world differently. Dogs however see shades of certain colors. When humans get really hot thy start to sweat but when dogs get hot they begin to pant. Dogs’ eyes are used especially used for spotting prey. Dogs usually bark or growl when they see or sense an unknown person or other animal such as a new dog or a hamster, or a mouse or rat. Dogs use touch to find things in the article it said that they use their whiskers and they pads on their feet to feel their way though the world. When a puppy is born it is blind in order to find its mother it uses the pads or its feet and it’s whiskers.

A dog’s greatest feature is its sense of smell. A dog even has a better sense of smell than a human. The article said “a German shepherd has 220 million odor receptor cells and a human only has 5 million”. Humans walk on there feet where dogs walk on there toes. A dog has a lot of the same features as a human and in the article you can see the features that we both have. This is because humans and dogs are both mammals. There are also many different ways to tell a dog’s mood and this was discussed in a different article that I read.
