For a dyslexic student, school or academic activities present the biggest challenge. David Raymond went through a lot of hard times throughout his childhood because of dyslexia. He eventually suffered from low self-esteem. Before David knew that he was dyslexic; he felt he was dump and at times he just wanted to die. He always needed help with his homework or writing activities and his mom was always there to help him in whatever she was able to do.

Being surrounded by people with the same condition helps to feel more comfortable. When David was sent to a camp with children with dyslexia he felt better. David Raymond did not feel dump anymore. He even got an I.Q higher than 90 percent. This shows that he was more confident and his performance at schools was better. He realized that the teachers really cared about him, even though he still had to go through embarrassing moments.

Self-esteem is an important fact in order to overcome to this type of problems. When your self-esteem is low you mind loses control and you are not longer able to do things. In the beginning, David Raymond felt that he was dumb, and things starting to get worst. This happened to me once in high school. I always believed that I was really dumb for Mathematics, and they always gave me a hard time throughout high school. I thought that I would never be good at math, but this was because I had in my mind that I was dumb for that. When I realize what I was doing, I high my self-esteem by telling me that I was going is good at math and it really worked.

Being with people with your same condition may be really helpful to make your self feel a little more comfortable, but what really matters to overcome to problems is the self-steam you have. If your self-steam is high and you are positive, you will always achieve your goals. But if your self-steam is low, your problems will become worst....
