Women Marines – Fewer, Prouder

“Once a Marine, always a Marine” holds no gender boundaries. Neither does “Semper Fidelis” which translates to “Always Faithful”. “OOH-RAH” has roared from the mouths of “The Few, The Proud, The Marines” since the beginning of time and continues to leave the mouths of those who earn the right. To be a United States Marine is more than any typical United States citizen could ever dream of. Being a Marine means sacrificing ones life no matter what the consequences. It’s about serving ones country. Being a Marine means doing whatever it takes to protect themselves, their fellow comrades, their family, and their nation. It’s about surrendering all personal opinions, comforts, and possessions to take on the status of a United States Marine. Being a Marine means being part of one of the greatest Military units in history. Being a Marine denotes honor, pride, and sacrifice, but being a Woman Marine means all that and more. The fewer, the prouder, the Women Marines.
Honor, Courage, and Commitment are the United States Marine Corps core values. Each valiant soldier abides by these morals in all they do. Honor consists of the “qualities of maturity, dedication, trust, and dependability”(Honor, Courage, and Commitment). Marines are to obey the law, lead by example, and respect yourself and others. In addition to those honors, Marines are expected to maintain a high standard of integrity, support and depend the constitution, Uphold special trust and confidence, and finally place faith and honor above all else. Courage is “the ability to do the right thing, in the right way, for the right reasons”. It’s the inner strength that is instilled into Marines hearts. Their physical, moral, and mental strength allows a Marine to “do what is right; to adhere to a higher standard of personal conduct; to lead by example; and to make tough decisions under stress an...
