Is Ritalin always the solution?


Are we overdosing our children with kiddy drugs? Is Ritalin always the answer for ADHD? Is ADHD such an extreme disorder that our society has to drug our children with Ritalin or is there another way? I know that there are some cases of ADHD where Ritalin is a must to help some people function in an everyday environment. There are also cases were there is no need for Ritalin but parents put their child on the medicine because they may have one of the three disorder that when combined make up the disorder ADHD.
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder also known as ADHD or ADD is a neurobiological disorder. Children with ADHD have developmentally inappropriate behavior, including poor attention skills, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. ADHD can come apparent in children younger than seven and some may never grow out it. ADHD stand as the number one disorder in America and studies say that 2 to 5% children are diagnose with ADHD. ADHD is 3 to 4 times more likely to occur in males than females. Children with ADHD may know what to do, but they are not always able to complete their tasks because they are unable to focus, are impulsive, or are easily distracted. Symptoms are not paying attention in class, having a hard time following instruction and being extremely hyperactive.
