does not find out that she is “The Chosen One” or even that she is fighting a vampire, but he does not understand that Buffy knows what she is doing so he tries to protect her and he almost gets killed. Buffy realizes that she has to make sacrifices like not having a “normal” boyfriend that does not know about her. However she knows that it is still possible for her to conquer her battles and continue living her life. Our society is drawn to “drama series”(1), therefore struggles like this is what adds excitement, entertainment and a thrill to this television hit.
Joss Wheden is said to be “one of Hollywood’s hottest writers” who “created one of television’s most critically praised shows, ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’.”(1). He created characters that people can relate to, and he made supernatural occurrences seem real, despite what viewers know to be real. Wheden is consistent with his ideas and creations. He does not change the way things happen and the way characters act all of the time. All of the characters face problems and battles in almost every episode just like everyday people, yet some of the battles are a little worse than the battles most high school students face. In episode five it is mainly Buffy who faces both Physical and emotional battles, but her friends Xander and Willow, and her “Watcher”, Giles, are right behind her to help her. Being a slayer and even being a friend of a slayer can be very hard to deal with.
