Antigone

In the past there have been many people who have went against the standards of
what is expected.  The standards of many societies are alike in the form of the inferiority
of woman to men.  Women have, in some societies, been called servants and slaves.  In
Sophoclese’s, Antigone; the character is a female and she defies the standards and proves
that women are not inferior.
	The standards of this play are very much like the standards of many other societies
of the past and some of the societies of today.  The King in this society is superior to all
other beings on earth and is only inferior to the gods above.  The king of this play made all
the rulings and was never wrong or mistaken, just like when Antigone’s exiled brother was
killed and the king would not bury him even though he was blood and it was the right
thing to do.  In this society also men were superior to women.  If a man said anything then
the woman had to do it and the men were always considered right when against a woman. 
Women were the inferior gender no matter what they were compared to.  Women were
considered stupid as was
