Windows NT VS Linux
Windows NT VS Linux WINDOWS NT ADVANTAGES Windows NT offers a number of significant strengths that are not well known in the UNIX world. Ease of use Windows NT 4.0 uses the same familiar interface as Windows 95. The interface is the same, whatever the hardware or processor type ñ an important benefit in heterogeneous environments. Windows NT tools are designed to ease the management and configuration of common services like DNS and DHCP. They do so by wrapping these enterprise-standard protocols into easy-to-use management applications. As an added benefit, these management applications can securely manage any server in the enterprise from a single desktop, easing the day-to-day workload of desktop, data center, and network support administrators. Authentication data is not carried in the clear (as it usually is in a telnet session). The Windows NT wizards and administrative tools make it easily administered by less-expert staff. This is a tremendous benefit, because organizations fortunate enough to have experts on staff do not want to tie them up with routine administrative tasks like adding printers or managing user accounts. Expert users are free to use Windows NT-based scripting to develop their own ad hoc solutions if necessary.
