Aquaintance Rape Vs. Classic Rape
Aquaintance Rape Vs. Classic Rape Aquaintance Rape vs. Classic Rape Forced sex without consent is rape. This applies to acquaintances, dates, family members and partners; not just strangers, however when most people think of rape, they think of the ‘classic rape’ scenario. This involves a crazed lunatic leaping out of the bushes, brandishing a weapon and attacking an unsuspecting woman in a deserted area. There is physical evidence of struggle, and the victim receives medial attention and immediately co-operates with the police. However, this is rarely the case. STRANGER RAPE vs AQUAINTANCE RAPE Rape is a crime that gathers many myths and assumptions about the kind of person who rapes and kind of person who is victimised. Acquaintance rape differs significantly from the classic perception of stranger rape. Unlike classic rape, the perpetrator may be a friend, co-worker, flatmate, classmate, date or someone you have just met. The rape most often takes place in either the victim or perpetrators home and the attacker rarely uses a weapon or leaves bodily injuries that indicate force. The closer the relationship between the victim and the offender, the less likely the crime will be reported.
