Bookert And Dubois
Bookert And Dubois Two of the most popular advocates of the political and civil rights for the African Americans, in the nineteenth century were Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Dubois. They both had different views of how approaching the ways to achieve the goals of civil and political rights for the African Americans. W.E.B. Dubois addressed the Negro population, while Booker T. Washington addressed the President and the Board of Directors and Citizen at the Atlanta Exposition. The address by Washington is more sincere towards the whites, while Dubois’s speech seems less sincere by making demands that should be put into effect immediately. Washington doesn’t think forcing these rights immediately will be very effective. Also, Dubois’s speech is somewhat motivational, trying to rise the spirits of the Negroes to also demand the political and civil rights now, instead of giving them up for more time and gradually receive them as Washington proposed, which Dubois criticized.
