There are two plots in this play, the main plot involving Lucentio and Bianca. Because Lucentio arrives in Padua, he falls in love with Bianca at first sight. Tranio and Lucentio switch clothes because Lucentio wants to talk to Bianca and win her love. Bianca then falls in love with Lucentio and they marry. They probably do not live happily ever after, because Bianca turns out to be a shrew in the end. 
     The second pot involves Pertruchio and Kate. Because Pertruchio is broke, he comes to town to find a rich wife. Pertruchio is approached by Hortensio to court Kate and marry her, Pertruchio agrees because he wants the challenge of taming her and because his expenses to court Kate is paid for. Kate and Pertruchio fall in love, because he tames Kate and they live happily ever after.
