Macbeth
Macbeth Motivation, the Problems it Causes Many things lead on motivation. In the Shakespearean play, Macbeth is motivated by many of the things around him. Macbeth, a loyal and honorable warrior kills his worthy king and goes on a killing rampage to keep the role of his kingdom under his reign. During this period of craziness his wife Lady Macbeth, the three sisters, and his own fear influence Macbeth. The greatest motivation that Macbeth receives is from Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth convinces Macbeth to kill Duncan, by telling him that he is not a true man unless he sticks to his word. Lady Macbeth says, "When you durst do it, then you were a man; and you be more than what you were, you would be so much more the man." (1.7.56-58) Men were superior in the time of Macbeth, for Lady Macbeth to take away his manliness was an insult and making Macbeth want to prove her wrong. With her demon personality through the first couple of acts she tells Macbeth that it is his time for the throne. She doesn't want him to miss this great opportunity.
