Momentum Conservation
Momentum Conservation Abstract: In this experiment we analyzed the effects of causing collisions between two objects of equal and different masses. We found that different colliding circumstances cause different effects to happen. However, the one common thing about each collision was that the momentum of the system was conserved each time; this was the point of this experiment. An equation that demonstrates the concept of Conservation of Momentum is: „h „h Both of these equations came from source [2]. In this equation is the momentum after the collision and is the momentum at before the collision takes place. This numbers are equal in magnitude, but opposite in the sign so when you find the total momentum, which is the sum before and after the collision, the answer will be 0. The m and v are the mass and velocity of the objects. These equations will be used to analyze what happens to momentum during a collision. ˇ§Without too much equipment it can be shown that, when a moving dynamics trolley collides, via a spring, with a stationary trolley of equal mass, the moving trolley stops and the stationary trolley moves off with collision, car, momentum, mass, velocity, after, equal, type, two, pushed, trolley, total, rest, experiment, system, one, objects, equation, before, same, less, inelastic, direction, conserved, cars, because, source, kinetic, energy, each, between, together, sum, moving
