Schizophrenia
Schizophrenia Schizophrenia Many people think they know what Schizophrenia is. They think Schizophrenics are the crazy people you see walking down the street talking to themselves; however this description is not only wrong but also an example of the many misconceptions of Schizophrenia and the people who have it (Kelly 6). Although Schizophrenia only affects relatively one percent of the population, it is recognized as one of the worst mental disorders known. Schizophrenia has been studied for decades and is an extensive topic however; there is still so much to find out about the disease and its cause. Schizophrenia is a complex disease that is very misunderstood; it severely affects the brain, a person’s mental state and health. Schizophrenia is an extremely complex disease that has puzzled many scientists and doctors. It, by definition, is a disease that causes someone’s thinking, feeling and behaving to be so abnormal that it causes delusions, hallucinations, irregular thinking or fabricated emotions (Smith 19). Of these affects delusions and hallucinations are most common. A delusion is a false belief or idea that is usually unusual, i.e. “I am Superman, and I can fly!” A hallucination is sensing in any schizophrenia, disease, therapy, cause, schizophrenics, however, type, people, family, different, possible, one, group, don’t, causes, because, anti-psychotics, treatment, person, mental, medication, help, brain, been, affects, types, treat, think, theory, same, person’s, often, medications, life, known
