Canadian Multicultural Policy
Canadian Multicultural Policy Multiculturalism as a policy is a very intelligent move for countries today. There are many advantages to going with the flow and not fighting the emergent trend of the global village. Multiculturalism is an invaluable resource because it enables a country to take advantage of the varied experiences, languages, cultures, skills, and points of view of its citizens. Multicultural countries have proven to enjoy capital and cultural gains from diversity. However, many argue that the policy of multiculturalism in Canada is tearing us apart. That the cultural mosaic that we are so proud of is a diverse group of cultures that mistrust and avoid each other. They further argue that we lack a national identity due to the fact that immigrants remain faithful to the old ties in their origin of birth. The fact is that the people arguing against multiculturalism in Canada are the same people who supported the concept from the beginning, such as politicians and government officials. It is no secret that Canada to date has been dominated by British and French descendants.
