Abortion
Abortion Since the Planned Parenthood (P.P.) organization was first founded, there has been an ongoing controversy as to whether they should be allowed to operate or not. Their opposition stems largely from anti-abortionists and other “pro-life” groups. Many say that they promote pre-marital sex by their distribution of condoms and birth control (instead of encouraging abstinence as a way to combat teen pregnancy). This, along with their policy of confidentiality to minors, creates a barrier between Planned Parenthood and certain religious groups along with the anti-abortionists and “pro-life” groups. But what these people don’t realize is that Planned Parenthood is there to help people in need and that they don’t promote anything of the like. Although they don’t promote abstinence (they’ve come to realize that in this day and age, abstinence could not work as the only way to prevent teen pregnancy), they do all that they can to combat teen pregnancy and S.T.D.’s and that is why Planned Parenthood should be supported. Their education and services are vital to the well being of many youths who cannot get help anywhere else, regardless of parental notification and/or consent.
