The Destruction Of An Innocent Boy
The Destruction Of An Innocent Boy A war....took the emotions of a young boy. The war stole Elie's innocence and it altered his belief in God. Elie dedicated his early years studying the Cabbala and worshiping our almighty father. "I continued to devote myself to my studies. By day the Talmud, at night, the Cabbala." (Page 5) Elie was a spirited boy. He loved to venture his thoughts and wanted to devote his life to a religion he deeply believed in. Thus, he was a boy that wanted to dedicate his life to our Father. The Holocaust had an awful effect on society. An extermination of a race almost occurred. Elie did not easily overcome the effects of these heinous crimes. Elie arrived at Auschwitz. "Men to the left, Women to the right." (Page 27) Harsh words spoken with indifference. He bid farewell to the life he once knew. The transfer from Buna to Gleiwitz changed Elie's point of view. At this point, he felt our father still existed. When he witnessed the Rabbi's son leaving his father behind, this spectacle transformed Elie.
