What They Were and What They Are Going to Be
A century of shoes

Women have been dressing up for centuries and will be for centuries to come wearing dress shoes of all styles.  I find the 20th century to have some of the most interesting styles. Every year has been a year of changing the height and width of soles and heels. The styles have been made and changed and brought back to fit the newest fads.  I'm going to take you back in time starting with the 1900's and taking you through the 20th century of shoes.  Showing you what styles were and are.
The 1900's started the century off with definite height. Some of the shoes had five inch heels that were attached to a mid-shin length. Shoe fashion was greatly influenced by Queen Victoria. The style "didn't fade away with her death in 1901."(1) The women would wear boots in the day most of the time.  The shoes that they would wear in the "evening were more diverse."(1) The shoes were "embellished with embroidery or metallic tread and glass or jet beading on the toes." They were mostly made from fine satins and soft kid
